About Equatain

Equatain Consulting was started by Martin Curley to help stakeholders in international supply chains find ways to fairly share the benefits of globalisation.

Martin has more than 25 years of policy and strategy experience, including nearly 20 years working in and with the global garment industry. He was a 2020 Policy Leader Fellow at the European University Institute’s School of Transnational Governance, and  helped to found NGO Katalyst Initiative.  Previously he served as Senior Policy and Research Officer at Fair Wear, where he helped to design the Brand Performance Check system for assessing due diligence processes of garment brands. His background includes experience in government, NGO and higher education environments, and work with most of the major garment industry stakeholder groups.

He has been involved with the main human rights policy debates surrounding global supply chains, including human rights due diligence, supply chain transparency, access to remedy, and the future of industrial relations in global supply chains.  In particular, his work has focused on the role of European and North American-based companies in ensuring better conditions at their foreign suppliers and subsidiaries.

Martin has served as a guest panelist/speaker at events including the UN Business and Human Rights Forum, OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector, and numerous other conferences. He has contributed to several publications, including:
